What you can expect!

The unparalleled Wax Palm, recognized as the tallest in the world and a national symbol of Colombia, stands as the centerpiece of a captivating tourist journey that traverses the departments of Quindío and Tolima. This itinerary immerses us in ancient national trails explored by local indigenous people and the historic Royal Road, which the liberator Simón Bolívar traversed during his heroic liberation campaign.

The journey reaches its highest point at the emblematic “Línea,” located at an altitude of 3,300 meters, marking the division between the two departments. From here, we have a unique view of Los Nevados National Park, Valle de Cocora, among others. This experience takes us through the fascinating high Andean forest, one of the gems bestowed upon us by the imposing Andes mountain range. Finally, we arrive at La Carbonera Farm, recognized as the world’s most extensive sanctuary of Wax Palm.

In this magical corner, we marvel at entire mountains of Wax Palm, enchantingly beautifying this mountain range. La Carbonera offers a unique escape from the hustle and bustle sometimes present in Salento and Valle de Cocora. Here, tranquility and majesty intertwine to provide a spectacular experience, distancing us from everyday chaos and allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the magnificence of this natural environment.

The day before the start of the tour, it is mandatory for us to meet at our office located in Salento Q.

Day 1
  • 8:00 a.m: Meeting point at our office located in Salento, where we will take a 4*4 Jeep or van and embark on our journey amidst the mountain range.
  • 9:00-11:00a.m: During the journey, there will be stops at natural viewpoints where we will enjoy breathtaking views and learn about the history of this region while crossing the Andean forest.
  • 11:15 a.m : We arrive at La Carbonera and begin the 3 km tour through the imposing Wax Palm forest.-
  • 1:00 p.m: Time for a well-deserved lunch at a typical farm
  • 1:45 p.m: We start the return journey to Salento (approximately 2 hours).
